Gender Policy for the Northeast Fencing Conference

A student transitioning from female to male may elect to fence on a school's men's squad, given they have not already competed on a women's squad during the current Northeast Fencing Conference season. The student may continue to fence for a women's squad if they have not begun hormone treatment.

A student transitioning from male to female must complete one calendar year of hormone treatment before the start of the Northeast Fencing Conference season in order to compete on a women's squad that season.

The season shall be considered to start on the date of the Northeast Fencing Conference #1 Date , and shall be considered concluded after the date of the Northeast Fencing Conference #3 date of the same academic year.

This policy is based on that of the 2011 NCAA Inclusion of Transgender Student Athletes publication. (https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Transgender_Handbook_2011_Final.pdf)
